THE FRAGMENT CHARACTERISTICS OF A CYLINDRICAL METALLIC SHELL UNDER THE DETONATION OF ITS LOADED EXPLOSIVE CHARGE

ABSTRACT

The fragmentation process of the metallic cylindrical shells of different thickness under detonation of their loaded explosive charges is studied and analyzed. The Brisance of detonation and Fragment characteristics mass, initial velocity and the number of produced fragments are determined in terms of shell thickness. They are modulated in a system of mathematical expressions in a form of complex dependent functions. These functions which are not available in our country, are of great importance due to their speciality and their absent in published literatures. These functions make the design process of the detonated shells systematic simple and more accurate in the selection of the required shell thickness for the needed detonated shell.
