DIAGENETIC MICROFACIES OF HART A FORMATION IN SAMARRH -1 AND NAJMAH -31

ABSTRACT

The Harth formation was studied from two wells (Samarra -1, Najmah -31) through thin Sections, to identify the dolomite fabrics, which include:-

Floating-Romb Texture. Contact-Romb Texture, Sutured Mosaic and Sieve Mosaic Texture.

The fabrics have been used to characterize major microfacies of Hartha formation.

Another fabric types were identified out of the dependent classification of this study namely selective replacement, cloudy- centered, clear-rimmed dolomite and fossil moldic porosity Texture.

This study shows that the heterogeneous dolomitization was prevalent in the formation, which has led to the destruction and leaching of the precipitating fabric of the rocks.
