EFFECT OF CADIMUM OXIDE ON THE THERMOELECTRIC POWER OF TRANSITION METAL OXIDE ALLOYS TM-Cd-O (TM = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu)

ABSTRACT

The effects of the Cadmium monoxide on the thermopower (Seebeck effect) in the transition metal monoxides alloys TMxCd1-xO. where (TM=Mn. Co. Ni and Cu) and x= 0.25. 0.50. 0.75 and 1 have been investigated in the temperature range 30,0K to 500K. These results showed that the Seebeck coefficient increases with temperature for all alloys. Values of the Seebeck coefficient for these alloys depends greatly on CdO concentration in the alloy. The TMxCd1-xO alloys show higher Seebeck coefficient values. Determination of the charge carriers type showed the semiconductor  nature of these alloys, which is caused by the presence of the CdO.
