Palynomorphs were analyzed from (30) core samples from (3) boreholes at western Ramadi to establish a Middle Miocene Nfayil Formation. Five palynological zones were defined in the studied boreholes by using distribution of pollen and spores and other palvnomorphs from which we deduced a coastal environment for Nfayil formation (back swamps, or fluvial-lacustrine) with appearance of marine intrusion in the upper part of the formation, represented by distribution of marine elements (dinoflagellate. acritarch and foraminiferal linning) due to the oscillation and rising of sea level during that period.
